London Waterloo Academy has introduced the Advanced Level in the Business of Shipping and Operations course to provide specialist training to students entering the industry of Shipping or Maritime operations.
The course is ideal for those professionals who need an insight into shipping or maritime operations and also for those who wish to pursue a career in these areas. Attendance of the course and completion of successful examination leads to a recognised certificate award by the examination body ICM, and also a Certificate of achievement from London Waterloo Academy.
Participants will learn from experienced professionals in the maritime industry and be taught from a constructed syllabus that leads to a recognised award.
 
The course has two principle elements:
The Business of Shipping - How the maritime trade and transport works, the legal processes, contracts and documents involved.
Maritime Operations – The construction and operation of ships, how cargoes are carried safely, Ship Management and the legal obligations in operating ships.

(Full time/ 15 hours per week/ daytime and evening sessions available)

This course is an accelerated programme meaning that candidates can undertake the course if employed and for those attending from overseas that they do not have to pay out large amounts of accommodation costs. This course also serves as an excellent revision course for those attempting ICM Maritime Management programmes in The Business of Shipping or Maritime Operations. There will be a free text book given out for the course for participants to follow.

Participants must have a good standard of English to be able to achieve this course.

Note: The ICM certificate awards are official qualifications under the UK Government QCF framework. Therefore these awards will be given on

 suc cessful passes of the examinations set by ICM which course participants will be entered for Qand can sit at the London Waterloo Academy.



This means those passing both the ICM examinations in the course are half way to an ICM Maritime Diploma, a recognised qualification!
